GitProtect 2.5.0: Lightweight Replication, Microsoft Graph API Support, and Enhanced Restores
SUMMARY
- Automated copy replication can now run up to 66 times faster and uses less resources.
- Microsoft 365 backups and restores use the Microsoft Graph API that has replaced deprecated EWS.
- The metadata caching mechanism accelerates Jira and Confluence restores.
- Repository recovery for GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps offers better visibility and advanced naming controls.
In the latest 2.5.0 release, we’ve improved copy replication to execute faster and use less resources. We also optimized Microsoft 365 backups with Graph API support, and made restore experience across multiple workloads smoother.
Read on to learn about all enhancements in the 2.5.0 release of GitProtect.
Backup copy replication optimized for speed and performance
As of 2.5.0, backup copy replication tasks launch faster with reduced CPU and memory usage. For specific cyclic replication scenarios, you can achieve up to 66x faster execution.
Microsoft 365 backups and restores with Graph API
We’ve updated the Microsoft 365 backup and restore engine to rely on the Microsoft Graph API, replacing Exchange Web Services (EWS) ahead of its planned deprecation in October 2026.
This architecture update ensures efficient processing of emails, contacts, and calendars from Exchange Online. The update is also fully backward-compatible with existing EWS-created backups, requiring no action on your part.
Enhanced restore performance for Jira and Confluence
GitProtect now uses a metadata caching mechanism during Jira and Confluence restores.
From the administrator’s perspective, it delivers seamless backup browsing and instant UI feedback, regardless of your retention policy and number of copies.
Improved repository restore workflow
You now have better visibility into and control over repo recovery processes in GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps.
As a backup administrator, you can set repository names independent of target folder paths. Strict naming rules help you prevent errors. In-app notifications clearly explain what happens if default fallback values are used.
Other enhancements in 2.5.0
- More reliable handling of the concurrent backup task limit.
- Context-aware in-app notifications about AES-256 encryption impact on other features.
- Enhanced logging of custom action scripts executed via Windows and Linux backup agents (on-premises deployments).
Enterprise DevOps data protection platform
GitProtect is engineered to deliver high backup performance and reliability, strict SLA compliance, and the best recovery time objective (RTO).
All development processes adhere to SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001 standards.
