Task Balancing
It’s crucial that all your systems work stable and efficiently. But what if you have a complex infrastructure? For example, your organization has 100 active repos with 100 projects in each. So, your backup has 10,000 tasks to process at a time. That’s a lot!
With GitProtect.io you can process unlimited tasks in parallel, yet it’s better to balance and not overload your net. For that reason, you can advance your backup plan and use a task-balancing feature that will help you stabilize backup speed and CPU load. Depending on your needs and requirements you have two options:
- configure the maximum concurrent tasks your backup plan can process at a time.
- set a maximum start delay between your backup tasks.
In this case, you will be able to control your backup speed and not overburden other working processes.
To go further, and reduce network congestion you can also set a backup window when creating your backup plan. For example, you can set that backups are only performed out-of-work hours. For example, if your team works from 8 AM to 4 PM, you can set your backup for 4:30 PM when most of your team has already finished their work, So, the backup process won’t overload the network.
Other features that can help you avoid overloading the network are compression and bandwidth throttling.
